Solar Project Manager

Full-Time | On-Site | Los Angeles, CA
Compensation: $65,000 – $95,000+ DOE

About Blue Sky Energy

Blue Sky Energy is a solar, battery, and EV installation company serving high-end residential, retrofit, new construction, and select commercial clients across Los Angeles.

Founded in 2006, we specialize in custom solar PV systems, Tesla Powerwall 3, Enphase, EV charging, SPAN panels, and smart energy solutions for projects that require craftsmanship, technical precision, and strong client communication.

We are not a high-volume, cookie-cutter solar company. Our projects are custom, detail-driven, and often technically complex.

The Role

We are looking for an experienced Solar Project Manager to own projects from sales handoff through final closeout. This person will coordinate crews, materials, permits, inspections, clients, GCs, vendors, and internal teams to keep projects moving on schedule and to Blue Sky Energy’s quality standards.

The right candidate is organized, proactive, field-capable, and comfortable managing both people and details. You must have solar or electrical project experience, crew management experience, and the ability to communicate clearly with homeowners, general contractors, inspectors, and installation teams.

What You’ll Do

  • Manage solar, battery, EV charger, and smart panel projects from kickoff through closeout.
  • Coordinate crews, subcontractors, materials, inspections, permits, and site access.
  • Visit job sites regularly to troubleshoot issues, check progress, and support field execution.
  • Communicate with homeowners, GCs, vendors, inspectors, and the internal office team.
  • Review plans, scopes, budgets, schedules, and open project items.
  • Track procurement, long-lead materials, and project readiness before installation.
  • Keep project tasks, updates, documentation, and handoffs current in Asana.
  • Support job costing, timesheet compliance, change orders, and budget tracking.
  • Support bidding and estimating by reviewing scopes of work, project requirements, labor needs, materials, and job cost assumptions.
  • Ensure work is safe, code-compliant, clean, and completed to BSE standards.
  • Help improve internal systems, SOPs, documentation, and field processes.

What We’re Looking For

  • 5+ years of project management experience in solar, renewables, electrical, or construction preferred.
  • 3+ years of direct solar PV, battery, or electrical project experience required.
  • Experience managing field crews, subcontractors, vendors, and installation schedules.
  • Experience with bidding, estimating, scopes of work, proposal review, or job costing.
  • Strong knowledge of solar PV, battery storage, residential electrical work, permitting, inspections, and utility interconnection.
  • Familiarity with Tesla Powerwall, Enphase, EV chargers, and SPAN preferred.
  • Working knowledge of NEC code, OSHA requirements, and job site safety standards.
  • Comfortable using Asana or similar project management software.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, QuickBooks Time, or similar tools.
  • Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and ability to travel to job sites across Los Angeles.

Physical Requirements

This is an active, field-facing role. You must be able to travel to job sites, walk active construction areas, climb ladders, access rooftops, lift up to 50 lbs., and work outdoors in variable conditions.

Reasonable accommodation will be provided for qualified individuals with disabilities in accordance with California law and the ADA.

Who Thrives Here

You’ll do well here if you take ownership, communicate early, follow through, and stay ahead of problems before they reach the field.

Our best Project Managers are accountable, organized, calm under pressure, and able to lead crews while maintaining strong relationships with clients, GCs, vendors, and internal team members.

This role is for someone who wants to help build a better company — not just manage a checklist.
